Reporting to the Supervisor of Corridor Management, the Operations Technician is required to provide technical/field support to the Operational Services Division, such as, but not necessarily limited to:
review and approve Municipal Consent applications;
review applications for Road Occupancy Permits;
perform utility and construction coordination for specific projects;
liaise with other Municipalities, agencies, developers, consultants, utility companies and residents;
schedule permanent repairs for utility cuts;
tender preparation, contract administration, project inspection;
operational infrastructure investigation, analysis, and reporting;
assisting with budget preparation and forecasting;
operational policy/procedure research and review;
perform estimates for damage deposits;
maintain lists for such things as benchmarks, ROP’s and MC’s and creates billing advices to utilities for damages:
other duties as may be assigned.
Our Infrastructure Services team is looking for an enthusiastic, solutions-oriented team player. You are self-motivated, self-starting and utilize a proactive approach to work. You demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with a broad range of partners.
You are excellent at prioritization and time management, and can work under pressure to meet deadlines. You have an uncanny ability to see the forest for the trees - you love to research and analyze complex issues, come up with innovative solutions and formulate data-driven recommendations.
You bring to the team your strong reasoning, analytical, numerical, research and presentation skills. You solve problems by identifying, gathering and processing relevant information. You demonstrate adeptness in negotiation and approach situations with the goal to improve communication, diffuse tension and resolve problems.
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
a three (3) year post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering (at a Technologist level) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in the municipal field;
registration with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT);
demonstrated intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel);
experience working on construction sites, including relevant training such as but not limited to OTM Book 7
extensive knowledge in the application of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this position
ability to work in inclement weather conditions
experience in the review of utility and construction drawings submitted for Municipal Consent
ability to work both independently and within a team environment
ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work
a valid, unrestricted Class “G” Licence in good standing with access to a personal vehicle.
Salary: $67,142 - $83,949 per annum
